
In 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This document declared the formation of a new nation and our secession from England.
After King George was defeated by the American revolutionaries, it became apparent that measures had to be taken to prevent the government from gaining too much power resulting in oppression.
As a result, the United States Constitution was written and signed by the founding fathers of this great nation. The Second Amendment to the Constitution states: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
